Synopsis
After decades of foreign travel Man returns home; Great Aunt Ruby is bed bound and ailing. Bothered by constant heavy traffic noise, the fear of burglary, the poor behaviour of the local youth – the place has changed so much for the worse since Man went away – Ruby feels herself helpless. But Man is here to see Ruby get better, not to care for an invalid. Ruby saw Man born; he is the child she never had. This and caring for her surely gives Man the right speak openly. If Man can persuade Ruby to throw the pills away, end the stream of bedside visitors, gossipers and church vultures all feeding on her sickness, could Ruby choose life and learn to live again.
