Synopsis

World renowned performer and political activist Paul Robeson sifts through both his private and public lives as a singer, father, actor and civil rights campaigner via fragments of his music, press cuttings and letters. He relives the increasing isolation and escalating mental distress brought on by nine years of house arrest and intrusive surveillance by the FBI, just as he is called to testify before the US House Committee on Un-American Activities.
