Shakira Newton

Shakira Newton is a queer, mixed-race and working class actor, writer, and director from Portsmouth, based London. She runs the Piece of Cake Theatre Company whose aims are to uplift, champion and give opportunities to non-white creatives in the performing arts industry. Her one-woman show ‘Things I Can Laugh About Now’ received two nominations at the Black British Theatre Awards in 2022.
