Ola Rotimi

Biography

Nigerian Ola Rotimi was a playwright and director. He obtained a B.A. from Boston University, and an M.A. from Yale, where he earned the distinction of being a Rockefeller Foundation scholar in Playwriting and Dramatic Literature. For over two decades, Rotimi was professor of playwriting, dramatic literature, and directing, as well as Head of Department and Dean of Faculty in two Nigerian universities. He was twice commissioned by the BBC to write for its overseas broadcast, and his publications include six full-length plays (two of them award-winning), and a number of scholarly articles on Theatre and Drama.
