John Kani

Biography

John Kani is a South African actor, activist, author, director and award-winning playwright. His plays include Sizwe Banzi is Dead and The Island, both co-written with Athol Fugard and Winston Ntshona, Kunene and the King (RSC) and Nothing but the Truth (Market Theatre, Johannesburg) Kani was awarded the Royal Shakespeare Company’s Pragnell Prize in 2021.
