Biography
London born debbie tucker green is a multi-award-winning playwright and screenwriter. She also stylises her name and her plays in all lower case. She previously worked as a stage manager for 10 years, before turning her hand to playwrighting. Encouraged by a friend, tucker green submitted the unproduced She Three for the Alfred Fagon Award. It didn’t win, but it brought her to the attention of the Royal Court. Since then, she has gone on to write many notable works, with her play born bad winning her the 2004 Olivier Award for Most Promising Playwright. Her plays include, two women (Soho theatre), dirty butterlfy (Soho Theatre), born bad (Hampstead Theatre), trade (the Other Place), stoning mary (Royal Court), generations (National Theatre), random (Royal Court), laws of war (Royal Court), truth and reconcilliation (Royal Court), nut (National Theatre, Shed), hang, (Royal Court), a profoundly affectionate, passionate devotion to someone (-noun) (Royal Court), ear for eye (Royal Court). In 2015, tucker green was a recipient of the illustrious Windham Campbell Prize. Tucker green has asked for the Black Plays Archive to not catalogue her work. Out of respect her wishes, the Black Plays Archive has refrained from including her work on this website.
