Biography

Athol Fugard, was a white South African dramatist, actor, and director. Fugard’s ‘township plays’, so called because they are inspired by the everyday experiences of black people in the townships, were all produced in South Africa, in close collaboration with their black casts namely artists John Kani and Winston Ntshona from the late 1950s to the early 1970s.
